FOOT ORTHOSES (FO)

ANKLE FOOT ORTHOSES (AFO)

Varied stiffness ankle trimlines on polypropelene ankle-foot orthoses.

The left AFO is trimmed to provide dorsiflexion assist/plantar flexion resist for paralytic equinous (dropfoot). The AFO in center is trimmed with a stiffer ankle to provide plantar flexion stop/dorsiflexion assist. This is helpful for multiplanar  ankle instabilities, correctable deformities with instabilities, and will resist genu recurvatum (hyperextension of the knee).

The Articulated Ankle AFO. (Articulated with Gillete Type Ankle Joints).

This AFO will allow free range of passive or active dorsiflexion while preventing dorsiflexion beyond a fixed stop (usually 90 Degrees from the floor when in a shoe). This may be used for paralytic equinous (dropfoot), to resist genurecurvatum (hyperextension of the knee)  and has many other indications. A favorite for assisting children with neuromuscular disorders.
